Winter Weather Is Still a Thrill

Last year on this day I took the picture above and then the picture of me standing in the snow.

Well, wouldn't you know this year we got snow, then freezing rain, then thunder and lightening, rain and snow again!!!!! It has been QUITE the combo. We live close to my husband's parent's property so my husband has been using some of their heavy equipment to dig driveways out. I have been house bound for some time. Today when we went out people were out in groups working together to free frozen and stuck cars and clearing side walks and driveways. It was beautiful.

This snow/ice mountain is in our front yard. We have a laundry basket they are using to slide down and they are loving it! The neighbors grandchildren joined and that made things even more fun! All four children still loves snow and I am thankful we have a dryer so that I can quickly dry their dripping clothes and they can head out again.

This was his 'ice cream cone' made with ice cream and sparkles apparently.

Our kitten will brave the cold in hopes a bird will accidentally forget she is looming under the feeder and fall into her mouth. She realized quite quickly frantic leaps did nothing. So far all birds have been well fed and safe and she has lot of food inside.

The view from inside is breathtaking and this pictures does not do it justice but you get the idea!

Life in Pictures

Leading up to Christmas the weather started to turn cold. We huddled at home eating copious amounts of sugar cookies that my oldest had baked.
The children would go outside and I would look out and see my son climbing a tree in freezing temperatures, barefoot....

That got me outside and realizing we all needed to go for a walk with proper winter gear.

We had friends come over for baking and a gift exchange. That was so fun. Homeschoolers sometimes feel a bit isolated.

When I met this friend neither of us were married and now have four girls between us!

This little guy was just so excited about the decorations and the presents! He waited so patiently for the day he could open presents and all he really wanted was a Jack in a Box!

This is my four on Christmas Eve opening our gifts from our family gift exchange.

Christmas day came and this year I didn't take as many pictures as usual but it was a very happy day for our family!

Then suddenly snow came and freezing rain and that meant roller skating indoors and PJ's all day.

We are now enjoying our Christmas holidays with no homeschool. I am so tired. My husband has had some days off work and we are laying low and not doing much. Tomorrow is the very last day of this year! I hope you have a happy last day.
