I adore going to Kilby's museum. I grew up going to this place with my mom and grandparents. It is a place where my heart feels happy and at peace. I try to go at least once a year. I hope I am raising my children to love it just as much as I. It is a place that my grandparents really valued and invested into and I hope to do that same as time goes on. We went this summer on' Heritage Day.' My children helped make ice cream the old fashioned way with ice and salt. The end result was a cold and delicious whip cream like ice cream. They did a lot of other things as well and it was absolutely magical for me. I did make my six year old dress up and she was NOT impressed but she survived. I just wanted pretty pictures :)
Here are some
There is an assortment of animals about the museum that you can pet and feed as it is a farm and general store type of museum.

There were games and crafts the children could take part in. I think she tried them all.
This is my favorite building ~ an old cabin that was transplanted here years ago. There is a bench dedicated to my grandpa on the porch. I sat on it and beside me was a tiny baby chick in a cage and I can't really explain how I felt but it was an old and lovely feeling that I wish I could feel more often.

The tree fort
The ice cream was a success and so delicious! It took about 45 minutes of man power to make.
This is in the old general store
There was a post office in the general store
This area (Harrison Mills) used to flood regularly so everything was built up above the water line
Not a posed picture just single quick moment captured
It was a HOT day and of course my hair is never a priority so I look like I always do every single day and my children are precious are they not?
It was a wonderful day in amongst all the days that make up the month of August this year and I was so thankful it happened.
