Taking My Sister's Pregnancy Photos (Part One)

I really love taking photos. I grew up seeing my mom faithfully capturing all our special moments. She printed those photos, wrote on the back the date and what was happening and organized them in albums....for five children. It was impressive to say the least. I think it was natural for me to want to copy her. She bought me my first film camera when I was probably ten. I loved it! Ever since I have been taking pictures. I got a Nikon D7200 last year and I am loving it. However I have a long way to go in understanding all I can do with it and learning the art of taking pictures in general. There is so much to learn! My sister and her husband graciously allowed me to take some pictures of them. She is due to have a baby very soon. I tried to choose some different locations and some worked out, some did not. I tried to pay attention to fine details and missed lots. I tried to capture light and be in focus. I just tried, and I am happy. I LOVED taking the pictures. I LOVED capturing the beauty and expression and moments. It was amazing. Here are some of my favorites. I do not have an editing program so all of these are just as they were taken.

By the way I will start at the river location which was on a gravel road in a place where people throw their junk. However that was not planned we just sort of ended up there as my other 'locations' were a bust. In one the field had been plowed up and in another it was full of goats and the buttercups were trampled. I felt a embarrassed, but thankfully my third location was a gem!

I think this one is my favorite. It is stunning.

After the river we headed to a park. The wind was blowing and it was cloudy and then the sun broke through. We had picked a little bouquet from my front yard before we left. My sister bravely did outfit changes in the open and we just worked it.

We had a lot of funny moments. I have to share some with you and so some of them are blurry as I am laughing as well!

I absolutely love this one and the next...and them all.

This one we are laughing because it looks so awkward and then he takes it to a new level (picture not shown) and we just start dying.

We moved to an orchard after the park.

So many things I need to learn ~ like hand placement and so many tiny details.

I will post the rest of the pictures tomorrow. Isn't my sister absolutely stunning? I am so happy for her that this little babe will be here soon. What a treasure :) xo

  1. Thank you for all of the time you put into this shoot for us! Even before the day you were checking out locations and lighting, researching and sending pics of different poses etc. It was so special. You were awesome and we had so much fun. I have a lot of the same favorites as you which was fun to see.

  2. Absolutely beautiful Tansy, you have a natural talent for producing beautiful photos and for connecting with your subjects ❤️ I had to laugh at your mention of goats because when my son got married last year, they were supposed to phone the owner of the wedding venue ahead of time to move the goats from the hilltop paddock overlooking the lake. Well, the wedding photographer happily snapped photos as the wedding party themselves attempted to herd the goats before the owner moved them on. And the photos are unique and brilliant 😂❤️✨
