First Flight

 Learning to fly ~ I hadn't had the chance before to watch a tiny bird take its' first flight. In this case all the other siblings had flown away and this little last one just felt a bit apprehensive. There were many encouraging chirps from a distant tree but this little one had to make the choice all on its' own.

This is mom..probably saying..'okay everyone has flown now and I've got to tend to them so you need to get a move on!'

        Out popped this little head (I am sorry the pictures are not great). The bird would come out and then go back in and then come out a little more...

She'd get brave and almost launch and then go back in. All the while I could hear mom letting her know to just get out there and fly!

And then she did it! You can see her wings starting to spread here for the first time! And when she got out of that tiny hole and started to fly she was amazing. She flew so quickly!

The nest is empty! It is a bit sad to have lost all the sweet little cheeps I would hear all day.

You probably cant see her but she is on a branch. After she landed she took a while to catch her breathe and compose herself but you could see her excitement! That bird house was pretty tiny and she was in there with four siblings! The hugeness of the tree and all the beauty all around must have been pretty exhilarating.

  That night the babies gathered around the bird house again. You could hear them trilling away to each other but after that I didn't see them again. They were off exploring the big wide world ~ doing what they were created to do ~ fly!
