Cougar Sightings

Last night I burned a tray of cookies black and didn't even THINK about them until there was smoke billowing out of our oven. I have never done that before. I am way, to, well, whatever it is you are way too much of when you dont burn things ever. I had the timer on and just blindly turned it off and let them burn. A couple nights ago our house filled up with smoke and I was freaking out, running madly to get the kids out of the house and figuring out what to save and it was just a pot in the suite downstairs merrily burning away that had been forgotten. My husband burst in and saved everything before there were actual flames but the pot was ruined. ANYWAY I am digressing. The reason I forgot about the cookies was for a couple of reasons. I had just found out there is a cougar loose in our neighborhood!!!!
I have recently met a neighbor a couple houses down from us and a couple days ago she told me she thought she heard a cougar scream one night while getting out of her car. I thought in my head, 'maybe a cat fight or something,' and she had said that she was sure it WASN'T cats. Anyway I forgot about it until last night my husband casually mentioned to me that there has been a cougar sighting in our neighborhood. We live in town but there are a lot of tall trees and our neighbor has ten cats. That cougar is VERY lost  I guess and my two children play in our yard often by themselves...anyway not happy news for me!
Another huge thing! Our neighbor had put her house up for sale. She has lived there forever and a day and we love her and she has ten cats which we dont love. All of a sudden her house is up for sale  (she decided that morning to do it and just did) and that means new neighbors and probably soon!!! That is a big deal for me as we have no privacy from her yard. The other side of our yard has complete privacy from all our three neighbors houses that border that side of the yard but her side has full view of our yard. Anyway we are hoping against hope for wonderful new neighbors. It is a massive lot but a small old house. Those two big things just rattled me and I burned the cookies. That is all. I dont have much to write about. We are in the greyest of grey winters here now. The sunny days are wonderful and I am so thankful there have not been endless rainy days like there usually is here but I feel blah and a bit sick. We had the flue this weekend though.
The cookies that I didn't burn were delicious and I am making my fourth dinner in a row. So I can't be feeling that bad!!!!!
Oh mid January
Oh well
It is what it is
I am putting up some pictures to remind that spring is coming and that it is beautiful
